Smooth and chill.

I like your style man, the chill music is what I love. It's always calming, yet it carries on a good beat. You've definitely mastered chill music, you really oughta go pro with all of it.

The beat is very good, i like the slight filter on it, it makes for a very nice addition to the song. The vocals are eerie but that doesn't subtract from the song.

Amazing, once again. You keep on doing this, because it's that insanely awesome. :D

Never cease to amaze me.

I always thought you were a hip-hop man, but you're pretty damn good at house music too! It's a very chill house song, the entire thing is amazing! I'm writing this as the song goes on, so bear with me. ;)

The beats are insane, the percussion is very well done. It isn't overpowering, it isn't too compressed and it gives the pads in the background a good something to flow to. The bass is great, very nice and not too overbearing. The sliding melodies are also good, it adds that real psychedelic house feel to the song.

This is great man. I think i've found the next person to add to my favorite Newgrounds artists of all time! :)

Chill again man!

I'm really digging this mix of chill and laid back music with a hip-hop or modern beat or whatever it's called. It's a good combo, and you've really gotten it down! The bells are great, the reverb and delay on them is a great touch. The bass is good as well, not too loud or over-bearing.

Overall a great mix. I'll have to look into that album you mentioned. ;)

thanks a lot bro.

Whoa.

Started off kinda awkward, but it get a lot better once that sweet sliding bass came in! I would've liked the bass to have a bit more oomph, as I've heard in some other house songs. It's really deep and thrumming, with like.. accents on the sliding notes. It's still good though, the vocals are an interesting touch. It has a nice beat, the saw is nice when it is sidechained, and the the plucky melody was good too.

Good work! Make more!

Darren-M responds:

hey thanks! this was helpful, ill work on the bass next time i do something like this with some more power in mind. im happy that you liked the "plucky melody" that was probably my favorite part.

Not terrible.

It does sound pretty decent. My big complaints are you choice of percussion, samples and synths; it all sounds like basic FL Studio stuff. Try to expand your sample libraries a bit. ;)

The melodies are good; it's a good TS404 sounding lead though. Like i said, the melodies are good. It's not a bad sounding song. That square melody around 2:15 sounds off key though, compared to the rest of the song.

It needs somr work, but it is a good start.

the main melody at the end is a z3ta+ preset called sandstorm and the main arp is the 1 finger bassline from vanguard. the drums i used are fruit kick and one of the ones from the packs in fl9 (thats the one that breaks up the sub bass). I used DropZone for the main bass (the only one playing at 3:15 besides the melo) The sub is a sytrus preset. I used Rapture for the little buzzing sound that goes along with the main arp. and all the other percussion is from fl9 presets.

I would like to find other sources for percussion but i havent really been able to find any good ones. If you know of any that are free, that would be amazing.

thanks for the review and if you want to respond to this, just pm me and i should get back to you the next day.

Good!

This is a nice entry for the collab EP. It has some great melodies, a really progressive sounding trance track. My one complaint would be the clap; it sounds a little too awkward mixed with the other percussion. It sounds almost like you used the Pogo effect from the FL Sampler, but maybe not.

The song is still good, but the clap ruins it for me.

japetheape responds:

Yea I noticed the clap earlier and completely forgot to fix it. In the full version that will definitely be mixed in better. Thanks for pointing that out, very helpful :D.

Whoa.

It's freaky sounding in the beginning! Nice and smooth, it really draws me in. It's very ambient, even with that beat to carry it along. My one big complaint would be the percussion; it sounds very quiet. I dont know if around :50 there is supposed to be a clap or not, but i think i hear a minor one. After that, 'round 1:15, it gets a lot better.

You did a very nice job. It's very pleasing to the ears. :)

A-New-Decade responds:

Haha I hope it's not too freaky! I just wanted a mysterious industrial sound. Well the reason the percussion is quiet is so you pay more attention to the music, rather than the beat. The only clap comes in at 1:04, so i'm not sure what you're hear. Appreciate the review!

Not bad.

It's decent for 20 minutes of working. It does sound very dancy, but there is no real pump to it, not a deep bass-line or a moving melody. It really stays the same the whole time, no real interesting changes or anything like that. The percussion is very quiet and... well, standard sounding.

Needs some work, even for 20 minutes of production. Spend some more time on it and see what you can get. :)

7/10 and 4/5 (+0.036).

McPhearson responds:

Definitely good advice, it's just a shame I got such a low vote on the song I was working prior to coming up with this. I tried so hard to put focus on those aspects in "I Wish It Would Last" but I think I failed in the opening to grab attention, and may be why it scored so low, rather than judging it in it's entirety. If you could give me your input on that song I would be much obliged. That song I felt proud of but I'm not seeing how it could be hated so much. You may have a better ear as to tell me where I went wrong.

Interesting

A very futuristic feel, nice and spacey with a good beat to carry it along. The beat is my one complaint though; the amen (?) is good, but it gets very annoying pretty quickly, especially in the intro. However, it compliments the song nicely later on when it gets more dark and intense.

Overall good job! 9/10 and 5/5 (+0.084).

Will responds:

Yeah, the drums sounded so good that I got carried away and overused them...a little :P
Thanks for the review!

Good!

I like the song as a whole, it's very smooth and it flows well. Very progressive too, and I'm a fan of those types of songs. The percussion is nice too, it does it's job well. That one bass melody around 1:10 sounds a little awkward though, but it might just be me. The rest of it is great though, i love the sidechaining on the bass and the overall composition of it. Very epic sounding around 3 minutes.

Nice job man! 9/10 and 5/5. :D

FairSquare responds:

Hmm, i can't hear what's wrong at 1:10 :p You could be right though, i'll talk to Helth :p
Thanks for the review man, i appreciate it :-)
