Reminds me...

I've been playing the game "Prototype" recently, and this reminds me of the theme thats played when you enter a military base unoticed. I like the entire song, really, it has a great atmosphere and a nice ambient and classical feel. The percussion really works well for this song, it brings out a nice electronic, but still ambient feel. I have absolutly no complaintys about this song, it has a good length and keeps me entertained for the entire song.

Nice work, as usual! 10/10, 5/5, favorite!

popraz responds:

Initially I had really started this song as purely percussion based, but later started overlaying a sense of melody. Thank you very much.

Wow...

This is actually very nice! It captures the complete dread that some people have of 2012. I understand the scientific facts of 2012, but i do not believe in all the 'god will kill us all in vengeance' thing. Anyway, not to start a religious conflict here, song review...

I like the entire classical aspect of the song, with a few ambient parts mixed in. Classical is a normal ambient sound, and this song captures the entire article very nicely. The lack of a prominent percussion also adds to the song.

The beginning: nice and quietly ambient. Nothing is really wrong, but things are changed. As the song progresses, bad things begin to happen. The dissonant (?) choir that comes in is really moving. Ambient choirs are what i usually associate with world endings or really big explosions or disasters. The strings come in, and it sounds like a desperate attempt to stay alive, but it does not work. The overall performance of this song on a person such as me is very invigorating, if that is the right word.

This was a really excellent piece bud! I figured i would return the favor and review one of your songs, and it turns out you entered the contest as well. Good luck to you as well!

10/10 and 5/5, and i have to favorite it. :D

popraz responds:

Thank you very much for the awesome review ! I greatly appreciate it ! And again, good luck at the contest.

Hey cool. :D

That is really epic sounding! I like the classical mix in to the song, as well as the voice acting. ForNoReason sounds like one of those guys who reads those closing statements at a funeral or something. And the rest of the song really sounds like a funeral dirge or something...

This was very well done! 10/10 and 5/5!

[ If you wouldnt mind checking out my entry for the contest :) ]

FairSquare responds:

Haha, yeah, ForNoReason has the perfect voice for this :P
Thanks for the review and ofcourse, i'll check yours out too ;-)

A little odd.

The intro was nice, that saw was amazing. I think, if you faded it out into the bassline that comes in, it would sound pretty cool. The song is a little awkward at first, because the bass you have, and the drums, dont really compliment each other all that well, which is hard to do. However, later on in the song, when more instruments come in, it sounds much better. I felt that the percussion was lacking in something, there was just a kick and a snare.

The good, because there is plenty: It sounds a lot like a Breaktrnce song, which is what you were aiming for. It has a definate flow to it, a lot of nice saws and pads. The piano was the best by far, it was very professional sounding.

Overall, nice work! It needs a bit of experimenting, but it's good!

9/10 and 5/5.

TheComet responds:

yeah agreed on the bass, this was originally going to be a DnB track and I didn't really tweak that bass much. I'm thinking of maybe doing a remix or at least a cleanup of this soon enough, the first half of the track I think I could've done much better on after hearing it a few times.

Drumline I'm not sure on what to do with it if I redo this, any more complex and it kinda feels overpowering, but any less and it's too minimalistic...we'll figure that out when we get there XD

I've been getting a few compliments on the piano, I kinda figured out a system for making my piano scores if I'm using a Fortune style piano (with the delay). Figure out the chord structure of the measure, then build a single arp out of that with the piano, allowing it to echo for at least half a measure, then for the next measure, make another arp that could stack on top of the previous one nicely.
Alot of it ends up by ear though, but the system is a good start I guess.

Thanks for the feedback, it's this constructive criticism I really crave :D

Awesome!

This is really cool man! It has a nice beat to it, and it's going so nicely that i have to do this in parts...

Percussion: No complaints here. It fits very nicely, nothing overpowers too much. A lot of the samples you used/created are very professional sounding, and it makes for a very good song.

Bassline: Awesome too. It has a definate punch to it, but still fits in with the rest of the song.

The breakbeat part: Whoa. I would never have expected that, but it's very nice! The high-pitched piano (?) is a little annoying, but after a while, i started to enjoy it.

After the breakbeat, i liked the song even more. The percussion, and that one sliding synth, really brought this song home for me. It's a great peace of trance, very professional.

You sir, get a 10/10, a 5/5, and a McAwesomeBurger. :)

(If you could review one of my songs, that would be nice. But please don't feel obligated, i'm only asking.) :D

Rawrthaas responds:

Thanks!

Nice!

That arp is really cool in the begining, i like how it adds an almost ambient feel to the song. The The bass is kinda off with the rest of the song in the build up, it's stuck on E and the rest isnt. Still, it isnt bad. The part after the build up (the one with the vocals) needs more to it, you have the same beat after it.

It does need work, but it isnt bad. 9/10 and 5/5.

EQualed responds:

well, thats good to know
i must admit, i haven't spent much time on any of my music atm :P

i'll spend some time on this i think :P

Kick ass!

God damn bud, you got yourself a sick house song here! And it's full! It has a lot going on, and yet nothing over-powers anything else. It all flows nicely together, and the percussion is VERY professional sounding. This was a marvel to my ears, believe me!

10/10 and 5/5!

DigitalPulse responds:

Woah! Thanks man, I really took my time on the percussion (layered 5 snare with 2 claps) :)

Thanks for the review,

Digital Pulse

Very nice!

A very nice intro! I like the echo-ing wood-chime sort of sound, it is a very nice way to start the begining of this piece. Im not sure if thats an orchestral string sample or a choir in the begining as well, but it adds a lot of ambience and mystery to the song. I like the slight percussion in the song, that funny little "wahowahowaho" that is really faint. It is cool though!

Nice work man! 10/10 and 5/5!

ReFreezed responds:

The echo of the wood chime was actually a small hell to get right so I'm glad you like the result. :)

Thanks for your review!

Basic FL

I find this problem with a lot of users on NG. They use basic FL Studio stuff, ex the Dance pack, which is what i hear prominently in this song. The rest of the song is very good, the melodies are nnice. At points, the melody over powers the drums, which it shouldnt. You cant really hear the kick either, because the FL kick sucks.

Update your libraries of percussion stuff. Go!

7/10 and 3/5.

KrazeyOne responds:

Thanks for the review, and I shall find some perc stuffs. :D
